Hong Geon-ik House is pleased to invite you to Seochon: Explorative Walk, a Free Walking guided program that uncovers the historical stories of Seochon on the western side of Gyeongbokgung Palace and how they connect to everyday life and contemporary culture in Seoul.🇰🇷

 

The Tour is open to everyone; whether it is your first time visiting Seoul and Seochon, or you are curious to discover the neighborhood more deeply through a local sight. If you are interested, let's find out together!

THEMES WE EXPLORE

[1] Hanok & Rock Formations (2026/04/01, WED)

Along the way, you will discover small valleys, rock formations, and natural traces that are often overlooked, even by locals. These rocky landscapes are closely tied to the history of the area and show how nature, architecture, and daily life have long coexisted in Seochon. You will hear stories about how people lived here in the past and how Seochon continues to balance history, nature, and contemporary city life today.

 

[2] Hanok & Gwanghwamun (2026/04/15, WED)

Explore traditional hanoks in Seochon and walk toward Gwanghwamun(Main Gate of Gyeongbokgung Palace), where the royal history of Joseon Dynasty meets contemporary Seoul. This tour introduces the architectural beauty of hanok while uncovering stories connected to the palace and its surrounding streets.

 

[3] Hanok & Museum (2026/05/06, WED)

Visit most notable hanoks in seochon including Hong Geon-ik House, and continue to the National Palace Museum of Korea to learn about the kings of the Joseon Dynasty. This tour connects everyday residential spaces with Korea’s royal past and historical legacy.

 

[4] Hanok & Whitespace (2026/05/20, WED)

This route uncovers whitespaces within Hong Geon-ik House and the Cheongwadae Sarangchae(Blue House Square), including hidden nooks such as small courtyards and gardens that are often-overlooked. We focus on exploring these spaces and learning about cultural and communal significance.
